From an ICT Manager up north

In my role as ICT Manager for a Multi-Academy Trust comprising of 2 primary schools and 2 middle schools I had a requirement for a budget tablet device which pupils could use to work from home in the event they had to self-isolate and for use in normal lessons for research, tests and educational apps.

We used to purchase Kindle Fire HD8 tablets and manually install the apps required, this was a decision made largely due to budget constraints. Amazon does not offer their Whispercast content distribution tool to UK schools and the range of apps available for deployment from the Amazon App Store is more limited than in the Google Play Store.

This brought about the need to find another solution, ideally one which could be easily enrolled into an MDM platform.

The ALLDOCUBE iPlay 8 Pro met my requirements by offering a good hardware specification for the money and a recent stock version of Android with the ability to be managed using an MDM solution. The free screen protectors and cases were the icing on the cake and saved me from having to procure these separately.

I used our existing MDM solution, Cisco Meraki and opted for the Android Enterprise Enrolment option. This allowed my team and I to quickly roll out the tablets for pupil use.

Dealing with CodeRobin was very easy, as they are a UK based distributor this gave my organisation the confidence to order in bulk and helped to alleviate any concerns around warranty and delivery.
